Wind Technology

There is a clear need to produce an alternative energy source rather than the existing fossil energy. A few steps have been taken in this direction to help protect the existing resources and find new techniques. Towards this dream various new technologies have come to the surface. One of them is wind energy technologies.

Wind energy is a kind of solar energy because it is the heat of the sun that forms the conditions for the wind to flow. This flowing wind is harnessed to build electricity, run irrigation pumps and lots more. The question arises as to how this energy is developed?

The answer to this lays in the understanding of the wind turbines. The wind turbines are used to generate the electric energy by using the kinetic energy of the flowing wind and convert it into the electric energy; the mechanical energy produced in the process is actually used to run the generator that produces the electric energy. And this electricity is useful especially in the rural areas that have no access to the power stations or have access to nearby distribution centers.

TheĀ Turbine

The wind technology is the turbines that are used to convert the wind energy into the electrical energy. We have been using the wind energy for various purposes like to thresh grains, dry clothes etc.

The process could be well explained using the elementary physics. The energy is neither created nor destroyed but it changes its one form to another. The phenomenon of rise and fall of the warm and cold air causes the winds to flow. It is the power of this wind that is used to by the turbines that comprises of the huge aluminum blades being put on to the long tubes. These blades rotate with the help of the flowing wind and the turbine is connected to the generator, which converts the mechanical energy of the wind to electrical energy. » Read more: Basics of Wind Energy
